A day of learning costs $36.
He’s seventeen. He’s been in school, and he’s been out on the street, and now he’s standing in the doorway of a beis medrash willing to give it a real try — which, if you know what that costs a boy that age, is most of the battle already.
Here is what he finds. Not a program. Not a track. Warmth, and support, and someone who has decided in advance that he is capable — and who keeps deciding it, out loud, until the day the boy stops arguing and starts believing it himself.
That is the whole method. It is also, more or less, the Rosh Yeshiva’s entire waking life: how to get this one to see what he’s got in him.
And it works. Boys who came in that way are today a rav, an avreich learning a full day, a man in business who davens with a minyan and is raising his children the way he was shown. Baruch Hashem, the list is long.
The sky really is the limit. That isn’t a slogan here; it’s a thing we’ve watched happen, more than once, to someone who arrived certain it wasn’t true about him.
Some years there are close to a hundred of them. Some years twenty-five. One stays four years, another two months. The number moves. The door doesn’t.
What it costs
There is no building fund here, no campaign with a thermometer, nothing to name. The yeshiva has one running cost and always has, and it is the plainest one there is: keeping people learning.
A full day of an avreich’s learning is $1,000 a month. Half a day is $500. And a tutor sitting across the table from one boy — a person, not a class — is $1,000 a month.

A learning month is 26 days, every day but Shabbos. These are the yeshiva’s real costs divided out, rounded down, so the number under-promises rather than over.
Give once if that’s what you can do. Give monthly and you’re not a donor any more — you’re the reason a chair is filled tomorrow morning.

A gift can be given לעילוי נשמת someone, לזכות someone, or in honour of a simcha. After you give, email the name to office@tifereschaim.org.
The name is given over to the men learning, and they have it in mind while they learn. It is a small thing to arrange and not a small thing to receive.
